Baby Must Haves- Newborn Edition

Now that Tatum has been here for almost two months, there are definitely a few things we have learned that are tried and true products for newborns (or at least for us!). Every baby is different, but I wanted to share the must have products that every newborn parents need!

Swing

Our swing has been our number one used product we have by far! Tatum loves being in her swing and takes a lot of her naps in her swing. If we cannot get her to sleep in the middle of the night, we will usually use the swing to help rock her to sleep and it works EVERY. TIME. We love the swing we have because it has different swing speeds, music, and vibration offers on the seat which help the baby feel like they are moving (car, rocking, etc.). Our swing also doubles as a glider/bouncer, so we can detach the seat and move her wherever if we need to take a shower, etc.

Dock A Tot

Next to the swing, the Dock A Tot is also one of our top loved products! We have used it for anything from changing her diapers to keeping her on the couch with us. She was having a difficult time sleeping in her bassinet at first since it is a flat surface, but once we put the Dock A Tot in the bassinet she slept great! I love that the Dock A Tot is easily movable too– I always bring it in the bathroom with me while I get ready if she is sleeping. For example, she fell asleep in her Dock A Tot when I needed to get ready, so I just picked it up and moved it into the bathroom with me! Life changer!

Baby Monitor

We LOVE our baby monitor and use it every single day. Having a good baby monitor is key, especially if I need to take a shower or go into another room while she is sleeping. It helps me be productive but also safely still be watching her.

Gowns

Something you definitely don’t think about before having a baby is the easy access you are going to need to change diapers frequently. Gowns make it sooo easy during diaper changes, since you just have to pull it up. We live in our gowns over here.

Burp Cloths

We leave these all over the house, because you just never know when you are going to need one. The more burp cloths you have the better or you are going to be doing a lot of laundry.

Blooming Flower Bath

If we did not have the blooming flower bath, I really don’t know what we would do. Tatum LOVES her baths and I really think it is because of the blooming flower bath. It easily fits into any sink and keeps the baby super comfortable. It is also extremely easy to clean.

Mittens/Socks

Newborns can have some VERY long/sharp nails and it can leave lots of scratches on their skin. Having non-scratch mittens (or you can use socks) is key to helping keep their skin scratch free.

Owlet Monitor

This is a luxury item in my opinion, but it definitely helps you relax a bit when your baby is sleeping, especially in a different room. The monitor easily attaches to their foot and connects through an app on your phone. Your phone/the charging base for the monitor will send off an alert alarm if the baby’s oxygen and/or heartbeat levels are off.

There are definitely other products that we have absolutley been loving as well, but these few in my opinion are absolutely necessary for newborns! I have only linked the brands of the products that we personally own for reference– as I would never want to suggest a brand of product I had not tested out for y’all!
